2011 Undergraduate Juried Exhibition Submission Deadline Extended to November 4

The Corcoran College of Art + Design invites 2011 undergraduate students to submit recent works for the College’s 2011 Undergraduate Juried Exhibition, juried by Andrea Pollan, Director of Curator’s Office. On view in the Corcoran's Gallery 31, the show will feature the outstanding works of our undergraduate students from all disciplines of art and design.

Exhibition timeline

  • NEW Extended Deadline for entries: November 4
  • Notification of Acceptance to Artists: December 15
  • Receiving of Work: January 19–21
  • Exhibition Dates: January 26–February 13
  • Opening Reception: January 27, 6–8 p.m.

Eligibility

  • Must be a current undergraduate student at the Corcoran College of Art + Design.
  • Work completed in the past three years will be accepted.

Submissions must include

  • Artist’s statement
  • Resume
  • Work samples
  • Exhibition Dates: January 26–February 13
  • Opening Reception: January 27, 6–8 p.m.

NOTE: Artist statement, resume and work samples must be submitted on ONE CD. No paper or media submissions will be accepted. Diptychs, triptychs, and works in a series maybe counted as one submission when supported by a concept.

You may submit up to three images as JPEGS (resolution of 72 dpi, not to exceed 1 MB) on a CD, and/or no more than five minutes of video on DVD.

Andrea Pollan, Director of Curator’s Office

Andrea Pollan has worked for over twenty-three years in the visual fine arts. Trained as an art historian at Yale University, she has organized approximately 175 exhibitions of contemporary art for museums and galleries regionally and nationally. She has written numerous catalogs and exhibition brochures. Pollan has juried scores of art exhibitions and art fairs in the region including an exhibition at the Corcoran Gallery of Art.

She served as Exhibitions Director of the McLean Project for the Arts in Virginia and was curator at the Arlington Arts Center prior to that. She has worked for the Trust for Museum Exhibitions, the Yale University Art Gallery, and two regional commercial galleries.

She managed several corporate art collections and has broadened that focus recently to include several private collections.

Pollan received an Arts Administration Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1994. She has served on numerous boards and recently served on the board of the D.C. Chapter of ArtTable, a national association of women arts administrators.
