Position Summary:
Camp Creativity teaching assistants are full-time, temporary positions for Camp Creativity 2014, located at Corcoran
s Georgetown (ages 5-10), the Hill Center (ages 3-10), THEARC (ages 5-10), Capitol Hill Day School (ages 8-10) and Downtown (ages 11-16) campuses. Camp sessions cover a wide variety of fields including drawing, painting, sculpture, cartooning, digital art, and photography and more. Positions are available for 5-and 8-week segments: Teaching assistants are required to work 7.5 hour days, with a scheduled .5 hour lunch break.  Hours run from approximately 8am-4pm.

Duties and Responsibilities:

       Serve as the weekly teaching assistant for one camp creativity class (Studio Preschool: ages 3-4, Studio A: ages 5-7, Studio B: ages 8-10, Studio C: ages 11-13, or Studio D: ages 13-16).

       Greet campers and parents during check-in while keeping an accurate list of all students. Lead students from check-in area to their classroom.

       Assist camp faculty in the classroom, including preparation, classroom management, breaks, facilitation of art projects, etc.

       Promote positive attitudes with enthusiasm, while maintaining a professional demeanor.

       Effectively communicate with administration and faculty, reporting to the Camp Coordinator and the manager of Youth and Family programs

       Facilitate the lunch and recess break, actively supervising children and leading them organized games, activities, etc.

       Help to develop and implement pre- and post-camp activities for each day of the week.

       Supervise and engage campers during pre-camp and post-camp activity periods.

       Assists in various administrative duties as needed.



       Bachelors Degree in Art Education, Fine Art, or Art History (completed or in-progress)

       Experience working with children

       Strong communication and organizational skills

       Ability to encourage artistic growth and creativity

       ENTHUSIASTIC! Must carry a positive, friendly attitude

       Ability to take initiative

       A strong interest in art education

       CPR/First Aid certified is preferred, but not required
