Coolworks Summer Internship Experience

Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal franchise, world leaders in
business and news, are looking for sharp, smart and creative
mavericks from all backgrounds – design, journalism, app
development, entrepreneurship, art history, biology – to work
with the CEO and other top industry innovators this summer.
We need people like you to help us envision what our business
will look like a year from now, 10 years from now. We need you to
help us target a different demographic while retaining our
current subscribers. In sum, we need you to re-think the business
of making news.
You will spend two weeks completely immersed in our world,
working across digital, print and mobile platforms to help move
the future of media. Explore cutting edge journalism techniques.

With your skills and our resources, you will be charged with
incubating ideas and prototyping ways to enhance and innovate our
entire product suite to make it speak to you.
Candidates must have completed at least one year of college.
Rising Seniors are preferred.

1.Upload a 60-second video telling us about yourself (If your
video is too large please include a link to YouTube, Vimeo or
2.Given a 4 square block area, design your perfect village for
the entire staff of WSJ - both housing and work space. Who lives
where, and by whom? What, if any, areas are reserved for solely
work/recreation, and why? How does the staff get THEIR news? Your
answer should include some design/diagram as well as writing
justifying the placement of each element.
3. Write the 3-paragraph brief of the news story, to be released
in the next five years, that will most redefine how news is
distributed. After the brief, break your brief down and describe
why your story, more than any other possibility, is a
revolutionary moment for news' future, and why you think five
years is a likely time frame.

hours: 40 hours per week, 2 week program
