Departmental Interior Design Competition Winners

November 8, 2012

The Corcoran's interior design department is proud to announce the winners of the 2012 Departmental Interior Design Competition.  Congratulations to Sandra Fine and Cara Sheridan, both Master of Arts in Interior Design candidates, for their winning submissions!

Earlier this fall, the department of interior design teamed up with Interface flooring to offer a design-based and research-based competition open to all interior design students. The grand prize was a trip to Georgia for two students to visit Interface and learn about their products, manufacturing, and innovations.  The winners will be traveling on November 18 and 19, 2012 and staying in the mid-century Pine Top lodge with catered meals by the in-house chef.

Students had the option to choose between a research based paper and a design competition and the Interior Design Department was thrilled to have more than 40 entries for this competition. The competition was juried by Brooke Traeger, associate chair of interior design, Jonathan Healey, interior design faculty, Mathilda Cox, interior design adjunct faculty, and Lisa Buchanan, account executive for Interface Flooring.

Special thanks to Carlee Cardwell, interior design advisor and Jessica Clear, adjunct instructor, for creating the partnership with Interface, and overseeing the design competition, that led to this wonderful collaboration.
