Faculty Accomplishments: Tanya Paperny

Tanya Paperny, a new adjunct instructor in the arts and humanities department, will have her essay, "Red Hook, Revisited," published in the forthcoming The Crab Orchard Review. Her essay is about Brooklyn's Red Hook neighborhood.
In addition, Paperny was awarded the Legid House Translation Lab Fellowship, a one week, fully-funded fellowship at Omni International Arts Center. Transition Lab, is an intensive residency for five collaborating writer-translator teams in the fall of 2012. This focused residency will provide an integral stage of refinement, allowing translators to dialogue with the writers about text‐specific questions. It will also serve as an essential community‐builder for English‐language translators who are working to increase the amount of international literature available to American readers. Paperny will spend Nov 9-16 working with Andrei Krasnyashykh, a Ukrainian writer whose work Paperny translates.
