About: Washington Printmakers Gallery is a cooperative print gallery located in Washington DC's DuPont Circle area. Founded in 1985, the Gallery is Washington DC’s primary source for artist-pulled fine art prints, and has a membership of exceptional local and national printmakers. Every month Washington Printmakers Gallery has a group exhibit of members' work and a solo show. The gallery also houses bins and flatfiles with prints and a limited collection of artist books and portfolios.
Responsibilities of this position include: updating and maintaining current artwork inventories, website maintenance, updating the outreach database, executing sales, and light gallery maintenance such as adjusting show lighting and putting up labels. Other responsibilities may be added depending upon the applicant’s needs and skills at the Director’s discretion.
Intern: The ideal candidate has a background in fine art, preferably printmaking, as well as basic computer skills in Excel, Word, and Photoshop. Attention to detail and reliability is key. This internship is unpaid, but the right applicant will meet successful Washington, DC artists and collectors while learning the inner workings of a successful gallery that has been consistently running for 20 years. Duration and hours of the internship are flexible. Interested applicants should send a cover letter and current résumé to the attention of Annie Turner to the e-mail above with the heading “WPG Internship” in the subject line.
