Roads and Paths Reception with Bernhard Fuchs

January 6, 2010

5427068-STANDARD Corcoran students are invited to attend the opening reception for Roads and Paths (Strassen und Wege) Photographs by Bernhard Fuchs at the Goethe-Institut.

A sense of quietness and deep intimacy with the landscape is revealed in Bernhard Fuchs’ 11”x11” photos of the landscape around his hometown of Helfenberg, Austria. Now living in Düsseldorf, Fuchs continues to return to his birthplace to replenish his emotional and artistic energy. Over a span of five years, he patiently observed and recorded the landscape, his calm, intense gaze rewarding viewers with immediacy and vitality. The colors of nature and the light as it changes throughout the seasons reflect an inner space in which memories interact with the present.

Opening reception Thursday, January 14, 6-8 p.m. with photographer Bernhard Fuchs.
