Volunteer Opportunity for Corcoran Students
January 15, 2010
We are seeking 10–12 Corcoran students to participate in a great opportunity to work with young DC poets
DC Scores is a local nonprofit organization that “inspires youth to lead healthy lifestyles, be engaged students, and become agents of change in their communities” via after-school programming with an emphasis on soccer and poetry. One of the organization’s annual fundraising events, “Inspired Art” is being held here at the Corcoran in May.
DC Scores will pair each Corcoran student with a poet from their program. Each participating artist would create work inspired by the poems. The gala will include an auction of the artworks as well as a performance by the DC Scores poets.
This is a good opportunity for Corcoran students to become involved in a community outreach effort as well as receive some exposure for their work. Work in all media is welcome.
All interested students should contact Stephanie Moos in the Office of Student Affairs at (202) 639-1831 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
