On November 10, 2007, then Illinois senator Barack Obama stepped onto the national stage when he was the last potential Democrat candidate to speak at the Jefferson and Jackson Dinner. Obama, clearly an outsider at the time gave and inspired and riveting speech to the crowd. The photo shows Obama’s wife, Michelle, standing with now Senior White Advisor Valerie Jarrett.
