Manager of Curatorial Affairs

Manager of Annual Giving
The Manager of Annual Giving reports to the Director of Annual Giving and Membership and is responsible for planning, managing and coordinating a comprehensive annual fund campaign for the solicitation of individual gifts; recommending, developing and building new strategies for obtaining private donations; identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects; working with staff, board and volunteers as needed; and assisting in drafting proposals, newsletters, brochures, pamphlets, electronic communications and other materials as necessary.
The position manages the implementation of Annual Fund campaigns, including those for Chairman’s Guild, Women’s Committee, Docents, and low-dollar campaigns; manages solicitations and renewals, events, and the fulfillments of benefits to acquire, renew, and upgrade donors; works with staff to build prospect lists and cultivate donors through research, institutional events, and personal communication; and works closely with his/her supervisor, the membership team, key volunteer leaders, and other staff to increase overall annual giving. Assumes responsibility for the Annual Fund, with an emphasis on cultivation and solicitation of individual leadership gifts ($1,500-$25,000).
- Work with Supervisor to set short and long-term goals for the Annual Fund’s direction and growth and develops strategies to achieve those goals, and a set of annual benchmarks and goals.
- Manages personal solicitation of top leadership-level annual fund donors ($1,500 - $25,000) and accompanies volunteers on prospect visits as appropriate.
- Plan strategy and implement low-dollar Annual Fund campaigns.
- Respond to Chairman’s Guild emails, phone calls, and on-site needs.
- Coordinate Chairman’s Guild identification (prospecting/determining who to move up), cultivation, and solicitation (renewals/upgrades/etc.).
- Track Board and Board Committee giving.
- Create Women’s Committee annual giving plan including solicitation at meetings, letters, and phone calls and identify prospects for higher giving.
- Create strategy to solicit docents and identify prospects for higher giving.
- Collaborate with other departments to invite Chairman’s Guild donors and other Corcoran high-level donors to Corcoran events and programs for cultivation and stewardship purposes.
- Create, continually evaluate, and execute Chairman’s Guild events.
- Oversee Event attendee/member follow-up for stewardship purposes and to recruit new Chairman’s Guild members/upgrade current members.
- Manage donor research, in close collaboration with the Prospect Research Manager.
- Work with Development Systems Manager to create queries and exports for renewals, prospects, and event lists.
- Work with the Director of Individual Giving and Membership and the Sr. Vice President to develop and adhere to annual budget and functions as a member of the development team.
- Do analysis and reporting of growth, attrition, and giving.
- Develop and implement Development moves management system to track donor contacts in RE.
- Ensure individual Chairman’s Guild member profiles are created and updated.
- Create and execute acknowledgment and fulfillment procedures for Annual Fund giving.
- Serve as a communications liaison to Development Committee.
- Develop and execute the Chairman’s Guild benefits plan and benefits delivery schedule.
- Coordinate Chairman’s Guild communications, and promotional materials such as a quarterly e-update, invitations, website content and brochures.
- Track Annual Fund collateral inventory.
- Review the Annual Fund presence on the Corcoran’s website and suggests changes for improvement and growth.

Utility Trades Person
This position is tasked with the general building maintenance and related daily procedural actions pertaining to the functions of the Operations department of the Museum and College. The incumbent performs tasks for Museum Lighting, Special Events, College Operations, Construction, A/V Technology, switchboard and mail room, and climate control. This position will also perform minor repairs and maintenance to the plumbing and electrical systems of the buildings. This position requires 24/7 on-call availability and will work overtime as directed.

Grantwriter
The Corcoran grantwriter is a full-time member of the Development Department whose work is on behalf of both, the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the Corcoran College of Art + Design. Responsibilities include proposal writing for new and recurring grants in a broad range of gallery and college programs, thus assisting with the donor cultivation and stewardship, grant research, and other fund-raising related activities. The grantwriter will report to the Corporate and Foundations Relations Officer.
- Collect information from other staffers and research necessary resource requirements to create project budgets and timelines for new grant projects in-line with the institution’s workplan;
- Write and edit grant proposals, grant reports and correspondence to funders (federal agencies, corporations, foundations, and other);
- Work with outside consultants/lobbyists in preparation of materials for federal solicitations, including the seeking of stimulus funding;
- Collaborate with the Corporate and Foundations Relations Officer and Special Events Manager in building and seeking out participants in the Corporate Partners Program, as a means of building general operating support;
- Organize supplemental documentation (i.e. budgets, timelines) for grant proposals;
- Maintain grant proposal and reporting pipeline, and track goals and objectives and timelines, to ensure deadlines are met and timely acknowledgments are sent;

Prospect Research Manager
The Prospect Research Manager is responsible for in-depth research, identification of prospects, proactive research, prospect ratings and prospect management to support individual and corporate & foundation development programs. Develops and implements a process for prospect identification, qualification, research and tracking; oversees moves management of prospects; oversees the prospect management data entry system; and maintains an overall knowledge of the institution's top prospects to assist fundraisers in developing appropriate cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies. Collaborates with senior members of the development team as well as other key staff members around the institution.

Director of Development
The Director of Development for the Corcoran College of Art + Design (CCA+D) is responsible for developing and conducting a comprehensive fundraising strategy and campaign for the institution. Working closely with the Provost and Dean and key faculty and staff of the College, the Director of Development will be responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and executing a coordinated program of fundraising including major gifts, corporate, foundation and government support, and annual giving within the framework of the College's top priorities. The Director of Development will work closely with the Corcoran's central development organization, drawing on its support services, coordinating all efforts as directed by the Sr. Vice President, and integrating the College's initiatives within the Corcoran's overall fundraising activities.
Through face-to-face visits, written proposals and other direct contacts, the Director of Development identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards individual gifts, and works directly with colleagues in student affairs and alumni relations and development. The Director of Development is responsible for initiating and managing relationships with foundations and corporations for the purposes of soliciting financial support through grants and gifts.
Chief responsibilities of the Director of Development include leading and managing development activities specific to the CCA+D. The Director of Development develops and nurtures relationships, and successfully interacts with and makes requests of established and prospective individual, corporate and foundation donors. In consultation with development department management, the Director of Development is responsible for setting and meeting fundraising goals for the CCA+D.
The Director of Development reports to the Sr. Vice President, and works in close collaboration with the Corcoran’s Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
- Work with colleagues in the development department and in the College to define fundraising needs, and to plan and develop projects;
- Manage a portfolio of individual/major gift donors and prospects at all levels, but with a focus on gifts of $5,000 and higher;
- Plan and manage aggressive College annual fund program, including (as needed and appropriate) volunteer coordination, direct mail appeals, e-solicitations, and phonathons;
- Direct a comprehensive College fundraising program for corporate and foundation giving;
- Identify trends influencing corporations and foundations that may affect their interactions with the College, as well as analyze and recommend methods to match current interests of foundations with college priorities and faculty activities;
- Analyze prospects and develop cultivation strategies to be implemented;
- Cultivate, steward and solicit prospect donors;
- Develop materials, written engagement and solicitation proposals for prospects;
- Coordinate fund-raising activity for CCA+D special projects;
- Participate in a long-term strategic planning process to ensure that development programs support the CCA+D mission and future goals;
- Work to reconcile scholarship and award funds, and strategize on expanding both;
- Collaborate with the Sr. Vice President to incorporate college development activities into the Development Committee structure and priorities development activities, and to strengthen the board of trustee’s college-specific development activities;
- Document donor contact and activity using Raiser's Edge;
- Be willing to travel as necessary;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- BA/BS degree and a minimum of five years successful direct fundraising experience at a higher institution of learning
- Experience in being collaborative in order to establish and foster relationships
- Good judgment, and excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
- The ability to rapidly become familiar with college-wide program areas, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships on and off campus
- Experience in developing and implementing overall development strategies for an institution/organization; a record of overseeing alumni giving programs and working with volunteer boards is preferred
- A proven track record of success in soliciting and securing individual, corporate and foundation gifts
- Demonstrated ability to develop corporate and foundation fundraising programs, including all aspects of successful proposal development, prospect identification, grant writing and donor tracking

Administrative Assistant
The role of the Administrative Assistant is to support the Executive Assistant to the Director and President with the day-to- day activities of the Executive Office. This will include the responsibility of managing the Chief Operating Officer’s calendar and correspondence, and all aspects of working with the Board of Trustees and the Committees of the Board. Under the supervision of the Director’s EA the Administrative Assistant will work across the organization with other staff to complete projects and accomplish goals. This position requires a person who is very organized, professional, flexible, and who has excellent interpersonal skills.
There are four main areas of activity:
- To provide administrative office support to the Executive Assistant to the Director and President
- To manage the Chief Operating Officer’s schedule and correspondence.
- To assist with the administration related to the Board of Trustees.

- Assist the Executive Assistant to the Director and President to organize and administer assigned projects. This will include the production and answering of correspondence, production of briefs, and liaison within the institution.

Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions
The ideal candidate will have two years or more of progressive admissions experience including staff supervision and office operations management. The Admissions team is seeking someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and who is enthusiastic, well organized, and familiar with art and design institutions. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required, with a BA or BFA in visual arts highly desired.
The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions is a senior member of the Admissions team and reports to the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. The position provides support to the Director and the department by ensuring the recruitment plan is supported through smooth office operations. Admissions Counselor
The Admissions Counselor is a member of the Enrollment team and reports to the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. The Counselor participates in the execution of recruitment activities including successful management of an assigned territory. Activities include: representing the College at high schools and college/portfolio fairs, conducting on-campus interviews and tours, reviewing portfolios of art work, and timely processing of applications.
