The Corcoran College of Art + Design (CCA+D) is pleased to announce its
Visiting Artists Program featuring lectures by Johanna Drucker,
Wangechi Mutu, Sam Gilliam/Jonathan Binstock, and Alex Webb. These free
lectures bring artists, scholars and critics to participate in studio
visits,
seminars
and critiques
with
CCA+D students
and the
public.
Through their contributions to classes and communication with select faculty and students, visiting artists and thinkers become a vital component of the CCA+D curriculum. Each visit is a one-day, intensive interaction that includes class visits focusing on critical discussion and the exchange of ideas, as well as lectures in which the visitor presents his/her work and discusses issues relevant to the role of the artist in contemporary society. Occasionally, short-term residencies are developed to produce collaborative work between the visiting artist and the CCA+D community. Developed in partnership with the Corcoran Gallery of Art, CCA+D’s Visiting Artists Program is designed to further the role of the institution as one of the foremost presenters of art and ideas in the country.
All lectures are held in the Corcoran College of Art + Design’s Frances and Armand Hammer Auditorium, located at 17th Street and New York Avenue, NW. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
