CCA+D: The Eyes of History 2005: An Exhibition of Award-Winning Photographs by White House Photojournalists
Showcasing the work of the nation’s most distinguished group of photojournalists - the White House News Photographers’ Association (WHNPA) -The Eyes of History 2005features compelling images documenting the year’s top news stories. In its fifth year at the Corcoran, the exhibition is on view at the Museum from May 21 through June 20, 2005.
The Corcoran College of Art + Design and the White House News Photographers’ Association entered into a collaborative partnership in February 2001. Drawing on WHNPA photojournalists serve as faculty, the College launched a four-year BFA degree program in Photojournalism. The program is unique in that it is a course of study in photojournalism housed in a college of art. The BFA program provides students with unprecedented access to the many powerful newsmaking venues in the nation’s capital, offering them a rare opportunity to learn how to use their skills creatively and expressively in one of the most competitive professional environments in the world. This yearmarks the graduation of the first class of Corcoran photojournalists.
The Eyes Of History 2005is organized by the White House News Photographers' Association and the Corcoran College of Art + Design. This exhibition is generously supported in part by the National Geographic Society, Tiffen, and Nikon. In-kind support is provided by the Sony Technology Center, Pittsburgh.
