Claudia Smigrod is a Professor of Photography at the Corcoran College of Art + Design. In addition, she was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Swarthmore College in 2002, and is currently a Visiting Associate Professor at The University of Georgia, Studies Abroad Program, Cortona, Italy from 1999 to present.

Ms. Smigrod, an artist based in the Washington, D.C. area, completed Portraits of Innocence and Neighborhood Watch in 1989 and 2008 respectively. These two portfolios were featured in The Washington Post Magazine, June 28, 2009, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art, July 1–August 9, 2009. Neighborhood Watch is a photographic survey of 20 individuals over the course of 20 years, accompanied with the participants' text. Her most recent exhibition, Paradigm Shift, Orlando Museum of Art, March 3–May 1, 2011, again deals with the relationship of text and image.

Ms. Smigrod's photographs are included in the permanent collections of The Polaroid Collection, Smithsonian American Art Museum, The Chrysler Museum, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Greenville County Museum of Art, Comune di Cortona, Cortona, Italy, Georgia Power, and the United States Information Agency, among others.
