Continuing Education, Undergraduate - Arts & Humanities

Katherine Knight has an MFA in Painting from American University in Washington, DC. She has also studied figurative painting the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Slade School of Art in London, England. She has been a guest faculty member at the Visual Arts at Chautauqua Institution, and the Art Institute of Boston. She uses her studio as a place to fuse a wide variety of interests with a traditional artistic practice. A love of literature resulted in paintings inspired by the works of Salman Rushdie, Gabriel Garcia-Marquez, and William Shakespeare. Her animated short-film Sunday Mornings won the Southern Lens award at the IndieGrits film festival in 2009, and later toured with the festival. An interest in theater and performance allowed her to create puppets and masks for several productions across the country, including the off-Broadway premier of CJD, in 2006. She currently divides her time between Washington, DC and Frankfort, Kentucky.
