As an artist I work in the field of sculpture in the broadest sense of that term. The sculptures recall animals, figures, landscapes and architecture and include ephemeral materials from daily life as well as materials referring to a long tradition of three-dimensional work. I hold a record of exhibitions in Europe and the US, (please see website: www.peterbottger.com)
I established the Department of Sculpture Restoration at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, DK, in 2009. The objective was to focus on statues and architectural ornaments in public space and bring attention to the central significance of collective memory.
My formal education includes a MFA in visual art from the above academy. In acquiring it, I have obtained knowledge of traditional and new technologies as well as insight into the history of sculpture and studio practice developing around new and emerging art forms.
