Me @The Zoo, airing June 25 on HBO, and an official selection of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, is an exploration of the relatively new phenomenon of internet celebrity. Profiling teen vlogger Chris Crocker (YouTube’s “Leave Britney Alone!” sobbing sensation) the film explores how video sharing and social media have influenced the way people share their stories, and mediate their lives. Directed by Chris Moukarbel and Valerie Veatch.

Santo Foundation call for entry ($4000 grant)

The Santo Foundation is pleased to announce our distinguished juror for our 2012 Call for Entry is Miki Garcia, Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum. Keeping an open mind to the creative possibilities of exploring art through a variety of themes is a hallmark of Garcia’s career. Artists are to submit 6 jpegs of their work and a current resume. All mediums of visual art are eligible including video/performance and audio. There is a nominal application fee of $40.00. Ms. Garcia will award $4,000.00 each to 2 artists from the entries.
