BFA Design Department News

The BFA Design Department, including faculty, staff, students and alumni, has had many recent achievements:

Congratulations to BFA Design alum Brock Boyts

BFA Design alum Brock Boyts was the grand prize winner for Union Pacific’s “Great Big Rollin’ Railroad” competition in celebration of their 150th Anniversary.  Brock and his wife Nellie created the grand prize winning animation together. Nellie had the opportunity to design the characters and creatures, along with remaking the original song into something that would complement the animation. Brock created, built, and animated the 3D models. Brock and Nellie's Union Pacific animation ad premiered on National Television.

Pam Lawton and Kate Elkins Featured in New Art Education Anthology

Pam Lawton, director of education studies and associate professor, has a chapter in an anthology that’s just hot off the presses.  The book is entitled “The Heart of Art Education: Holistic Approaches to Creativity, Integration, and Transformation” and was published by the National Art Education Association.  In the article, Lawton profiled one of our MA in Art Education alums, Kate Elkins, and included images of her work while in the program.  Kate’s work was even selected for the cover!
